SCENDE LA PIOGGIA

"The rain is falling"
I take the title from Gianni Morandi's 1969 version of The Turtles' hit, "Eleanor, gee". [Am I the only sad fool who remembers that and / or has actually kept the Italian 45 rpm?]
Anyway, this is to show you that it does rain in Modica sometimes - and how! As you see, the drainage isn't brilliant.

You mustn't show any more pictures of the rain, I visit your site to escape this normally British scenario, though we are still having a lovely Indian summer here. I regard my daily visit to your site as a little cerebral holiday, an encounter with a different culture and escapism.

Heh! Almost as if Modica wants to be another Venice, eh?

Some of our local towns have extremely poor drainage. The soil is heavy clay (which is why La Costa/Carlsbad is known for its aquifers) and yet we are technically a desert. When it does rain, instead of saving it as we should, we let most of it run off to the sea.

Ok, Ellee, I will stop it!
Bonnie, perhaps Modica is playing at being Venice - I hadn't thought of that!
