Simi has had the first of her summer haircuts today and is very pleased with herself. She got lots of treats afterwards for having proved herself to be "educata" [well brought-up] at the doggie grooming parlour!
Hi, Ellee. Simi enjoyed the pun, being a linguistic sort of dog! I agree with your neighbour: you have to find somewhere where they are kind and gentle, know their job AND be able to trust them with the most important [in my case] person in your life! As I don't have a car and the grooming parlour here picks up Simi and brings her back, that is so important: you have to know they will be careful, especially when she gets in and out of their van. Even though I trust them , I was SO relieved when they brought her back! Aah, James, you poor boy...
You know,( of course you do)Miss Simi is absolutely adorable. She has the loveliest head and her colour is wonderful. I had a very maleducato dog one time. A miniature schnauzer. He hated going for haircuts and I had to sedate him first, because he would bite. As he got older, I wasn't willing to do that, so I used to bathe him and hack about with the scissors myself. Nobody here knew how to do a Westie, so Miss Cleo always came back from the groomers looking more like a white miniature schnauzer rather than a Westie! regards jmb
Simi says "Thank you", Steve - a girl can do with all the compliments she can get! Anne, I must confess Simi has 3 beds: the one in the photo [from Shaw's the Drapers of Cardiff] which is in the living room, a wide, plastic one lined with cushions in the bedroom and the third is my bed! Liz, Simi says she understands and love and wags to Harvey. Hi, Lee. It's OK - I don't. I think she is pretty enough already. Ciao, jmb. Yes, her colour is amazing, I think. She was completely brown as a puppy - still beautiful, of course - and then she turned into this golden blondie girl! She loves having baths and comes into the shower with me! I'm sure Miss Cleo still looked sweet. Hi, Andrew. Yes, she is friendly and loves children, in particular. But she would go for anybody who tried to harm me! WW, Simi says "Ciao, gentile signore". Oh, Sally, they are better than that!!
Hi, eurodog. We both think a compliment from you, as a dog trainer, is a compliment indeed, so we apprecaiate it. Well, when Simone was a couple of weeks old, I saw her mother and her father. [I'm sure there are canine terms but I humanise her!] The father was a Yorkie and the mother was some kind of cross - Jack Russell and something, the owners said. Anyway, Simone has all the gutsy qualities of her father - nothing scares her! Yet a friend of mine had her brother from the same litter and he is a wimp but lovely, too [ the dog, I mean, not the friend!] She is absolutely the light of my life, eurodog . I don't know if you've glanced at the archive but I've written the story of how I brought her here from the UK. You will know that that is not an easy thing to do, even though there is no quarantine within the EU any more. It was much more stressful and worrying for me than transferring myself and all my belongings! If you are interested, I'll try and find where that post is. Auguri.
Hi again, eurodog. I put the links to the stories about bringing Simi over in a new post, as you will have seen, in case it is of interest to others, too. Auguri.
I'm a sort-of retired language teacher from Cardiff, Wales, UK, now trying to make a new life in Sicily. I'm not growing vines, making olive oil or restoring a palace stone by stone!

Simi looks very trim - excuse the pun.
My neighbour has just had her Airdale trimmed too, she said good pooch hairdressers are like gold dust - even harder to find than for herself.
A different world. I'm so sheltered.

Simi is looking good. Great cut for summer.
How sweet Simi looks, love her bed with all the little doggie things on.
Oh, my, doesn't she look just the thing! I won't show Harvey; he is too old to get excited!
Such a pretty girl is our Simi...I'm glad you don't put bows in her hair, Welsh...you don't do you? Please tell me you don't! ;)

Simi looks a friendly dog, unlike so many dogs who have tried to remove my fingers during the election campaign.
Ciao bella!
For a dog she looks great.... :-)
Not really a pet person..they are like having kids......

I must just ask. Is Simi a border terrier? But she looks too light coloured to be a border terrier. She looks lovely.
I am sorry to ask. I should know I am a qualified dogtrainer.

Would love to read it. Had a look at your archives but please give a clue as to title and date.
Thanks.

Hi, M, and wags from Simi, too. She is a Yorkie cross.
