I am late getting to my blog tonight on account of the return of the extreme heat, which we are told will last until Thursday. Unusually, there is not even much relief in the evening air at the moment. Many forest fires have broken out all over Sicily and I was amazed to read today that some of these are started deliberately, not only by "regular" arsonists but by part-time workers who want to be taken on by the forestry agency to put these same fires out! We do get some beautiful moons to gaze at from the balcony during this season, though, and here is my best attempt at a moon photo.

Ah poor little Simi - I can almost feel the heat rising from her. x
I do so feel for you and poor Simi, bless her little furry paws. I've always felt you can soon find ways to get warm when it is cold outside but colling down in a heatwave is a different matter entirely. I dread it but would not want my country to remain as it is rather than have some sunshine.
Talk about opposite ends of the spectrum...you are sweltering up there, while we're freezing down here and the UK is drowning over there!
That is warm...hot I mean.
That is a much better attempt at a moon photo than mine - which was just a white blur!
I think I would join Simi lying on the cool(ish) floor; I was not made for those temperatures. I do hope you're coping.
There must be a certain desperation in people to make them start fires in order to find employment. Or insanity!
How cute! The photo of Simi is like a painting and she looks such a character. God bless her - what a healthy, shiny, golden coat she has.
It is nearly as hot here in Malta and unfortunately it's going to continue. The worst is August though when the humidity increases.
The sky in Sicily is fascinating - I know it sounds a bit cuckoo but even the stars look different there - sometimes they look so near that if you reached up you could touch them.
Poor hot Simi laid out on the cool tiles - Bowser sends commiserations from rainy England. He is a black labrador and really suffers in the heat; this summer is suiting him just fine. The worst for you at the moment is the lack of cool evening air - hope it's better soon.
Hi,janejill. Simi says thank you. And to you too, Shirl. Yes, you have to be careful how you cool down. I rub Simi over with ice and she likes it. Are you all OK there? Lee, yes, it's crazy, isn't it?! Steve, it certainly is! Thanks, Liz. It took ages and I took many blurs! Last night Simi nad I slept in the lounge with the air cond on. I think insane is the word! Hi, LillyV. Simi is glad you like her photo. Yes, she is quite a madam and is the boss round here! I do adore her. As you will know, July is worse than August here. I agree with you about the Sicilian sky.
Hi, Sally. Simi sends wags and love to Bowser. We are promised a maestrale wind tomorrow.
I heard today that there are bushfires - nothing near you?
Hi, James. Yes, there are bush fires. I haven't heard of anything in this area. The situation is really bad on the Etna slopes and around Messina. Thanks for your concern.
Ah, poor Simi!
I always feel sorry for dogs in this whether, when they star panting!
Does she lie under the bed a lot?
Hi, Crushed. Simi is pleased at your concern and wants you to know she is coping! Not under the bed a lot, but stretched out on the tiles. Her mummy gives her lots and lots of water and rubs her down with ice when necessary. Also, we have more short walks, rather than less long ones, a day. I do worry about her as she is absolutely my life.
Poor Simi.. looks terribly exhausted! Gosh.. I love the warm weather but I think it's a bit much in your case! Plus the warm weather is only good if you hvae a cabanna boy and frozen drinks! Plus water to swim in!

Hi, M. Yes, it's a bit much! Simi sends love xx
