At this time of year some of the countryside looks dried out, as in the first photograph, though it can take on that lovely golden colour that you see in some shots of the film version of Il Gattopardo. But if you look up. as I chanced to do this morning, strolling back from a different supermarket to my usual one, there is still a riot of colour to behold.

Yes... the Sicilian countryside is so beautiful. We hired a car on our last visit and the gentle hills on the road to Noto were lovely - like something out of a fairy-tale. I wish I had taken some photos.
Compared to where I live, it is very green!
lovely pictures. Both dry and colorful.
bellissimo! Thank you for sharing, great color. Down here we get the colors in the winter much more than summer except for the roses - they are stunning.
Blooming heck :)
Lovely pictures, beautiful flowers. Wish I could see them myself.
Oleanders and bougainvillea, the things about Sicily which reminded me so much of Australia.
Oh and the eucalypts too, do you have them near you? What a disaster.
Beautiful flowers. Can't see ours for the rain!
These all seem very big plants.
Are the bushes and things bigger over there?
As Liz, says not so much green round here ither.
Lillyv, yes, that road is pretty. The trees and shrubs are still green but not the grass. Thanks, Steve. Lady M, I'd love to see a pic of the roses you have there. Blooming heck indeed, your lordship! Thanks, Chris. Maybe one day you will! Hi, jmb. I never thought about those being Australian plants too, but of course, they are. There are some eucaliptus here but I don't think they're a nuisance. Hi, Liz. Still raining over there? Hi, Crushed. Yes, everything's on a grand scale here! If you buy a "small" bouquet of flowers for someone, it's enormous [in the size if not the quantity] of the flowers by our standards.
I'm just catching up on blogs...I've been a bit behind it would appear...sorry. Dry has its own unique, peculiar beauty as well.i
I look forward to one day seeing it for real, I love trees and being close to nature.
Hi, Lee. Yes, there is a particular beauty about "dry" countryside, too. Ellee, you will one day!
The color of the last one was just stunning... You always take such great pics...
I should post more pics!

Thanks, M. You do post great pics yourself, you know!
