I surprised the nice lady at Bar Ciacera in Modica Bassa this morning by choosing an ice cream that did not contain my favourite amarena [bitter cherry] flavour. So here is melone e torroncino [honey nougat] ice cream, which I partook of purely in the interest of blogging, you know!

The things we have to do for the sake of our blogs!
Just to say how much I enjoy reading Sicily Scene - I think Sicily is the most wonderful place in the world. I got back this weekend from another amazing holiday there and can't wait to return.
MM, now that's a gadget I don't have. You've got me thinking now! Liz, don't we just have to force ourselves?! LillyV, how lovely to meet you and thank you. Wonderful to find another lover of Sicily.
I love torroncino. I remember one place especially was amazing for it. Was it Taormina? Or am I remembering somewhere near Verona which was the last time I was in Italy.
It's hot here today for a change so I would like to be eating that gelato

Hi, jmb. Very possibly it was Taormina. Wouldn't it be lovely if you came over and we could have an ice together? Torture, isn't it, Anne?! Glad you like it, Chris. Sorry, James!
I am positively green-eyed at this!
That looks very nice. You didn't say whether you like it or not!
