I am delighted to have recieved an award from the always interesting Lost in Sicilia. In order to confirm it, I have to write 10 honest things about myself. Hmmm - what can I tell you that I haven't revealed before?
4. I'm 59 years old going on 16!
8. As the song goes, "I fall in love too terribly hard for love to ever last."
9. My Dad was my hero and Italy is the love of my life.
10. I'd rather spend time with my dog, Simi , than anyone else in the world.
[That's 11 things!]
Now I have to recommend some brilliant blogs to follow - that's not hard at all!
Lost in Sicilia - the adventures of an American mum in Sicily.
Phidelm - a new friend in France; witty and wise.
Alex the blogging cat - pop over and learn to speak "Alexian"!
Nick's Bytes [Alex's "hooman bean"] - often makes you think and nearly always cheers you up.
Fighting Monsters - sometimes funny, sometimes heartbreaking, sometimes political, always interesting; the obsevations of a British social worker.
On my way 2 work and other stuff [Lucia] - entertaining tales from a Sicilian in Canada.
Rochambeau - just beautiful.
Amiga da Moda - for stunning fashion pictures.
Winchester Whisperer - charming anecdotes and delightful observations on life.
Rubber Slippers in Italy - superb food blog.
Chet Baker - I Fall in Love too Easily
1. Unlike Lost, I'm very much an indoor person. In fact, it would almost be true to say that I hate any activity that happens outside! The countryside bothers me - Ok, it's pretty to look at - but you get descended upon by all sorts of dive-bombing insects and after 5 minutes, I'm longing to be somewhere urban! I feel the same about gardens. They're fine to look at [from a nice spot in a conservatory, perhaps] but I don't want to sit in them, do the work or watch something take years to grow! The few plants I have on my balcony are garden enough for me.
2. Leading on from that, when I moved here, I found the change from big city to small city almost as difficult as the change of country, although I was where I wanted to be.
3. I always put makeup and perfume on first thing. I thought everybody did until I had a contretemps with a friend about perfume. The only day since I was 14 when I didn't do this was the day my mother died.
4. I'm 59 years old going on 16!
5. Having been a teacher all my life, I have come to the sad conclusion that schools are bad for your education.
6. I'm a night person. My Dad [whose bodyclock was similar] used to say that I had "owl's blood". I just concentrate better after midnight and long ago learned that I might as well leave most tasks until after that hour. Otherwise I just find reasons to procratinate.Besides, all sorts of horrible things happen in the morning [the kind of morning that begins at around 8 am]: bills arrive and expect to be paid, cheerful "morning" people go around being cheerful and making plenty of noise about it and layers of dust look worse in morning sunlight.
7. When I was a little girl I smashed a flowerpot over my best friend's head. She always used to break my toys and I got sick of it!
8. As the song goes, "I fall in love too terribly hard for love to ever last."
9. My Dad was my hero and Italy is the love of my life.

Excellent stuff Pat
Thanks, Jeremy. Much appreciated.
Neat! I like your list and can identify with a lot on it.
Thanks for recommending my blog and of course the blog of Alex the furball whose head is now resting on my right hand and so I am typing with only my left.
I likez dat Simi iz ur goodest fwiend. OK? MY hoomin bean iz MY goodest hoomin bean fwiend. OK?
Hi, Simi! U haz a berry nice hoomin bean! OK?
Oh gosh, WL, I had to laugh about your comment on bugs! I'm constantly telling Lorne to close the bloody screen door cuz the bugs are coming in. And they absolutely ADORE my blood! One night I had to show Lorne my 22 mosquito bites to make him realize just how allergic I am to them! Really enjoyed this post because I could relate to several of your points. My mother used to tell me to always make sure you have your lipstick on and your hair brushed first thing in the morning because you never knew who might drop in. lol

Well, can't argue with that. :)
Lovely stuff, Welshcakes - I feel I know and understand you better, now: independent; philosophically-inclined; knows her own mind; realises that suffering is part of the package, yet retains throughout a huge zest for and interest in life and thought, as well as a finely-tuned ear and a keen eye.
A few of your truths sound familiar.
Thank you for the challenge, that'll keep me out of mischief for a while!
PS Forgot to express appreciation of Chet Baker clip - big fan, here! Thank you.
Thank you for your compliment, WL!
Thanks, Nick. A pleasure to recommend your blog as it brings me so much joy. I'm just picturing Alex hampering your typing there!
Hello, Alex. I'm sure you are your hoomin bean's goodest friend, too. Simi says, "My hoomin bean is berry nice, you are right, Alex, but my, a dog has to keep her in order! Doggie - luvs from ~Sicily". xx woof!
#hi, Leslie. I'd love to hear you telling Lorne to "close the bloody door!" Do you take vitamin B against mosquitoes? I do and they rarely bother me now [they used to love my pale skin]. Your mother sounsa like mine, who also told me to "always have clean underwear in case you get run over."
Hi, James. Strangely enough, she didn't either, after that!
Hi, Phidelm. Thank you for the compliments! Suffering is part of the package, as you say, for without it we would never love. Glad you are going to take up the challenge! I think Chet has a magical voice.
My pleasure, WW.
Signora Limoncello,
Very nice list about your life. It's wonderful how we all are different, yet the same. The thing you said about education, is VERY interesting and important! Thank you for your kind words below. A lovely way to start the day~
a salute to Simone!

One more thing:
Really like that photo of you with your dolls. Looks like your are leading the orchestra. ;-)
Hi, Rochambeau. I'm glad you like the list and thank you for your nice comment about the photo. I was always "teaching" my dolls and my friends - a wonder I had any! - as a child. I might post about education but I would risk going on and on and on!
Ps: Rochambeau - Simi sends doggie-hugs xx woof!
You are an amazing woman and oh so witty! Thanks for your 'honesty' and the brilliant list!
hi WL...I have also been awarded this by my friend Scintilla..I have yet to put it up, if only I could get a list together of 10 honest things that people don't know, very hard indeed!!
Well done on this award :-)
Very kind of you to say so, Lost. Hi, Anne. You'll think of some, don't worry. Thanks. x
Thanks for the award Welshcakes! I think I may have the westie take over for this one as I've already received it. I'm sure she won't reveal everything though!
Very interesting Welshcakes. I think you have done this meme proud.
Some interesting recommends.
Thank you so much for putting me under the Brilliant Blogs to Follow category...I'm so not deserving as tht others...thank you!
Well at least you got your friend!!!lol...I chased my friend (I was 7 or 8, she 5 or 6) with a badminton racket and instead of smacking her in the head with it, I smashed her screen door window as it shut on me and behind her before I could reach her...no one was hurt except af full pain of glass and my piggy bank. my sicilian temper got the best of me.
I wish I was a night owl too. I can understand Italy being the love of your life, you have opened my eyes to its many splendours.
I am a night owl too! I am terrible at mornings!
Hi, Rowena. Oh, do let Maddie post!
Thanks, jmb. Hi, Lucia. Don't put yourself down! Your blog is great. Thanks for sharing your story. What a shame about your piggy bank! Thanks, Ellee. One day you will come over and I'll show you this part of this wonderful country. Hi, Cherie. Nice to know I'm in good company!
