It looks a bit like part of a hinge ore something like that. I'll have to look back in tomorrow, as I'm certain I'm on totally the wrong track!

Very interesting. When we lived there from 1968-71 there were quite a few horse drawn carriages or carts sharing the roads with cars. Is that still true?
