Just a few photos I took during a walk around Modica Alta at siesta time.

Haven't acquired the siesta habit yourself yet WCLC? Lovely photos, a very nice place to come for a visit, methinks.

You can detect the spanish influence in these pictures. People forget that prior to Italian Unification, Naples and Sicily had historical links to Spain.

That all looks so perfect and peaceful - especially on a grey damp Welsh evening.

Well, jmb, I've been known to drop off in the extreme heat of July and August. But I try not to as I'm a girl who puts her warpaintmon in the morning and gets cross if it doesn't stay on! (Unless I'm going out in the evening and have to change the colours.) You would love it here! Thank you , janejill - of course you are! Crushed, you are right. It is from the Spaniards that the modicani learnt to make chocolate, besides copying the Baroque.

Liz, yes, not a soul about! Sometimes I miss grey, damp Welsh evenings - not cold ones, though!

Lovely pics, Welsh. It must be so relaxing walking around town during siesta, when all else are missing. :)

Lovely pictures! I'm having a hard time waiting till 2008 to visit Sicily, it's all I think about lately. I've read "The Leopard", and now studying my Frommers Sicily book while waiting for "On Persephone's Island" to arrive.

Hi, Lee. Yes, it is nice and peaceful but I'm glad I did it yesterday because today has been sweltering! Marymary, she wasn't, actually - too hot for her that time of day and I can't take her on the bus. She was having a sleep on my bed! Thanks, Steve. That's a compliment from a photographer such as yourself. Grazie, ele! Marlene, you read "The Leopard" quickly! Remind me when in 2008 you're coming? You'll be well prepared!
