BREAKFAST IN SICILY

I know I showed you pictures of various granite last summer but I have more readers now! Crushed and others have been asking about these water-ices so this morning, in the interest of blogging, I forced myself to have a Sicilian summer breakfast of lemon granita and brioche.

It is hard I guess, but sometimes you just have to make sacrifices for your audience.

HI WCLC,
When I was in Taormina for two weeks we went every day after school to a special place for granita. He usually had only two kinds, made by his wife, different every day so we were at his mercy. The real kind too, not syrup over crushed ice. I never realized until he told me how much trouble it was to make them.

You must let me come visit you someday.

You'll have to help me with my Italian, though.

Yummo. You've won me. Sadly it is winter here. I must hold this thought for a warmer morning...

Hiya Welsh! No icy things here for me today...the weather has turned icy and I'm about to make a big pot of chicken soup! It's freezing here! The cats are both still rugged up, cuddled together on my bed. I might go back and join them in a little while...with a good book...sadly not a "good man"! ;)

I bet that was a real ordeal...

I suspect that my attempts to find either lemon granita OR Brioche at Morrison's may be doomed to failure.

It was, gledwood! Oh, Deli you are right - so hard! Hi, jmb. I know which bars round here make their own - you can tell by the texture. Ruthie, you'll be very welcome and of course I'd help with your Ital! Jcn, yes, hold the thought ... hope it's not too cold there. Hi, Lee. Soup is so comforting! /in the absence of a good man a good book's the next best thing - after a cuddle with a pet. Oh, Crushed, it was! Perhaps you could start a campaign at Morrison's?

Oh wow! I do not believe I have ever seen a brioche that size. At first I thought it was an orange icy. Do you have a recipie for a lemon granita? Would love to try making one at home.

Hi, M. I don't have one that's not copyright but I'll see if I can get one and post it.
