A banana and peach cooler at the Altro Posto today. The heat has been a little more bearable and we were below 40 C at lunchtime. The temperature of the Mediterranean Sea has been at its highest in 22 years for the past few days.

Why is it that regardless how large a meal I have had, your pictures make me hungry?
This looks DELICIOUS.
Probably even more delightful in that heat.
sorry about the heat wave, but I like the looks of your solution.
You are overheated while so much of England is underwater.
Yes, as you see, it's already melting, even in the aircond., Crushed. [Too hot to sit outside!] Lady M, it's the only solution I know! I have to walk everywhere, so I just have to pause for an ice such as this - that's my excuse, anyway! Shirl, I know: last night and tonight I couldn't believe the pics I was seeing on Sky- and the stoicism of the British people broke my little ex-pat heart!
Oh dear what is that heat doing to the ecology of the Mediterranean?
We are still cold hear, every day we wear a sweater, which is absurd. But at least we are not flooded out like poor old Britain.
I hope it cools off soon, WCLC, maybe down to 30.
regards
jmb
No ice-cream for me...I'm about to prepare a pizza and throw it into the oven!
Oh those Sicilian gelati - such a treat. Would love to know more about the Altro Posto - do you go there a lot - for lunch, for dinner? Is it near your flat? Please tell us more - grey, grey, grey here but we are lucky and have escaped the floods. Hope the gran'caldo continues to abate, heat is as miserable in its own way as wet and cold. I can remember going to bed in damp sheets as the only way to get to sleep in pre A/C days - that dates me!!!
Pleased that you are coping with that heat in the bestway;delicious cooling desserts. I am now reading, 'A house in Sicily',and really enjoying it. I especially like, Vincenzino, and his theatrics. Have you ever visited Casa Cuseni? Do you think Lizzie is on holiday? I hope she is well.
This looks really cooling and scrummy. I had strawberries dipped in melted chocolate last night, btw, at the Bishop of Ely's garden party. I came home and prepared some for my sons and they really enjoyed them.
Glad the heat is more bearable today!
Hi, jmb. Yes, awful pics from Britain. I don't think we'll see 30 C before September! Lee, kindred spirit, I "throw" things in the oven, too! Sally, the AP is about 10 mins walk from my flat and is in the shopping street I use most often. More importantly, it is just along the road from Raff the hairdresser's! I go there at lunchtime maybe twice a week, not because I'm hungry but because it's a way of seeing people. They treat me well, give me a discount and have my g & t ready before I even sit down! MM, glad you are enjoying the Phelps book. No, never been to CC. It's closed up at the moment, I gather. I think Lizzie must be on hols - I keep going over there and checking.. Ellee, I love fruit dipped in choc - such an easy and pleasing dessert. TAT, thank you for your good wishes. Still got the fans on!
That looks fantastic!!
Thanks for the message at mine... my saga is still continuing. I've not even started today's portion. I am procrastinating doing the rounds saying hi to everyone instead!!
Gleds, I procrastinate that way myself! But you have a very important story to tell. Auguri.
