PIZZA 'N' GEL

The trattoria in the little square has changed hands and become a pizzeria-trattoria so Irma and I have just been around there to check it out. Irma had the porcini mushroom pizza whilst I chose the bresaola, rocket and grana cheese one. For dessert, lemon gel was on offer and this one was very prettily presented. Gel is one of my favourite Sicilian desserts and I posted a recipe for it here. I think this pizzeria passes muster!

Those pizzas look fantastico! The parmessan cheese in Italy is drool-worthy! And the gel would be the perfect light dessert. Oh how I miss Italia!

do i understand the gel garnish to be marzipan?

really, really nice looking work on those plates.

I think that qualifies for one of those appreciative "rrriaaaooooow" noises.

I always get one of two pizzas--tuna and onions or prosciutto crudo, rocket, and grana...I'll have to see if they have bresaola next time ;)

Have you seen the contest to win a personalized, signed copy of "Dolce Italiano" happening at my and a few other blogs? We're posting 10 recipes from the book and all you need to do is comment to enter the drawing; I posted an awesome recipe for ricotta pound cake yesterday.

Come over and visit!

I wish I had been there to join you. do you eat out alone in Italy? How comfortable are women dining solo?

Mouth watering. The pizzas sound delicious and the lempon GEL is one I must make just checked your recipe posted in June. Great photos too. If all the food in Sicily is this good then I feel it is time to visit.

How have I missed so many of your posts?! I have read them all now but don't have time to comment on them all individually.

Dust? Pah! It only lands as fast as you move it.

Yummy looking pizzas.

Great posts on prostitution and wars/soldiers. I would agree with just about everything you say.

What a gorgeous tin with the panettone!

I don't know which pizza to choose. They look so good. The gel looks great too although I think I prefer fruit and gelato but I'll take your word for it.

Hi, Leslie. Yes, the parmesan tastes completely different before it travels. Hi, FC. No, it is plastic - but still pretty! Thanks, UPM. It was, WW! Ciao, sognatrice. I can recommend the bresaola! I'll be over soon to get the recipe and find out about the draw. Very profound, James - thanks. I wish you had, too, Ellee. Yes, I often eat out alone and am quite comfortable with it, as I was in the UK. I went with Irma last night but women here don't usually lunch together like they do in Britain. I wish you could have joined me too! Hi, kissa. All the food in Sicily really is that good so you must come! Hi, Liz. That will be my "dust" motto! Glad you like the pizze and the tin. Thanks for the comment on my War and prostitution posts. Hi, jmb. The gel is much lighter than you would think - come over and try some!

Welsh, which Gel do you prefer?

Welshcakes Limoncello said...

Ciao, pink. I think the lemon gel is the lightest and most refreshing.

That's good to hear, I wonder if you get made a fuss of in restaurants like you do at the hairdresser.

Hi, Ellee. I do at the Altro Posto!
