SUMMER SOUND

When it heats up, I just have to listen to Gino Paoli singing Sapore di Sale. For me, it's the quintessential sound of an Italian summer. It's so sing-alongy and easy on the ear and everyone in Italy knows this song! Paoli brings out an updated version every now and then. I have only to listen to the first few bars and I'm back in 1969, on a Riccione beach with a boy called Mario! I'm going to put the You tube clip on the next post [as every time I try to edit and put links in the text I wrote on there, I lose it. Maybe Crushed can tell me why?] Should you get the urge to sing along too, you'll find the words here.

The girl has something about her, very suggestive looking.

I was reminded of 'When the moon hits your eye like a big pizza pie, that's amore'...

Are you losing the you tube clip if you try to edit AFTER you've posted, is that the problem?

When you go into edit you need to make sure you can actually see the HTML code, otherwise you can't make alterations without it vanishing. You Tube has many quirks...

That's another song I love, Crushed! Yes, I think that's what's happening. I could only see a bit of the HTML. I've never tried it before but will follow your advice next time.

And what happened to Mario? Was it just a Summer romance?

Marymary, I was 19 and very stupid! No, we kept in touch for a number of years and I saw him again 5 years later and 12 years later. Eventually he gave up on me and married - who could blame him? - but I even saw him [quite innocently and briefly] a couple of times after that. I probably should have married him but life gets complicated. I don't know anything about him now.

Don't you love that? the way a song can take you back to a place and time..brilliant.

This is a lovely song WCLC, with wonderful words. I've never heard it before. Thanks for sharing and the lost romance story too.

I'm a huge fan of Patrizio Buane...he's delicious to look at and oh, what beautiful voice he has! Did I say he was delicious to look at? ;)

He's spent quite a bit of time in Aus as he has some relatives down this way. I wish he had a few up my way! ;) He makes me drool and swoon.....

No, that's not good enough: we want the full story of Mario!

I was listening to Dean Martin singing Amore yesterday. You can't beat the good old ones (are we sounding like our grannies?)

It's very atmospheric and gentle, you feel you should be strolling arm in along along the sea front, or gazing into each other's eyes over dinne.

And yes, was it just a summer romance? At least they are memories to treasure forever.

Hi, Lady M. Music and scents are the most evocative, they say.... I thought you might like it, jmb! Lee, I love PB too. His was the last Ital CD I bought before leaving Britain! He is rather gorgeous too, isn't he?! Liz, that song of Dino's really gets me going! We probably do sound like our grans but who cares?! Ellee, strolling along hand in hand by the sea is exactly what you should be doing when you listen to this! See my reply to marymary for what happened later.
