It's 20 years today since the funniest lady of them all left us. I still remember the first time I saw Lucy on TV: I was having a tantrum about something and my Dad coaxed, "Come on. Come and watch I Love Lucy with daddy." "Don't like I Love Lucy!" I wailed cooperatively. "Don't be silly", responded my patient Dad: "Everybody loves Lucy." And from the moment I started watching, I was hooked.
Here, hoping to get a part in a film, Lucy joins the Turo grape-treaders. Her comic timing [learned from Buster Keaton] is, as always, perfect:
I Love Lucy [1956]
Did you love Lucy? If so, which episodes / moments were your favourites?

I remember watching the show that that clip is from!!!!!!!!!
A week was not complete without everyone gather around the TV watching Lucy!
I remember an episode where the Ricardos and Mertzes checked into a motel. As I recall it was kind of shabby and there were two sets of bunk beds. They got in bed and turned off the lights. Suddenly there was a racket and the room started shaking as a train passed closely by. They all sat straight up in bed. I can still see the scene and laugh, but I don't remember anything else about the episode.
I loved Lucille Ball but I can't remember a particular episode that I enjoyed more than another.
Fred and Ethel made me laugh too.
The clip I've just watched was hillarious...perfect timing...
Thank you for that Welshcakes, I've started the day with a jolly good chuckle.
Heaven knows there is little to make us laugh here in the UK at present!
Di.x love to darling Simi too.xx
I notice you have put I Love Lucy 1956....I was only born then ...not sure which Lucy you are writing about?
Hi, Nick. It was the same with us. Hi, Betty. I'll see if I can find that one on youtube. Ciao, Trubes. Glad you liked the clip. Things do seem grim over there. x Hi, Anne. Lucille Ball.
I loved watching Lucy too!
I loved the clip that you posted. She is indeed a funny charactter.:)
The clip brightened my morning.
I am pleased, dear Ardent.
My sister Nell and I are big fans. I remember seeing this one too!
Sometimes having the name Lucy was a big joke. Sometimes it was nice because everyone would say "they love Lucy" and that would be me!
I remember that clip too. While I found Lucy extremely funny on the whole I'm afraid I also sometimes found her irritating but she certainly was gifted with a great comedic timing.
Hi, Lucia. That must have been nice. Hi, jmb. I know what you mean but on the whole I think she was great.
