SILLY WEEK - A HOME AWAY FROM HOME

It's August again and that means it's the "silly season" in Sicily:  many stores and companies close for several weeks, nearly all close for the ten days either side of Assumption Day [15th August] and others do not bother to reopen after siesta for the whole month.

As I reported last week, 13% of Italians taking a holiday this year are heading this way and before they do so those who have shops or businesses close them, only to arrive in Sicily to find everything..... closed.

What a lovely relaxing holiday that would be ;-)

Hopefully they brought some provisions with them ;-)

It's this time of year I think of Sicily and in particular, Modica - I've a post coming up including that.
