- British-style, the hot weather makes the front page of the local newspapers, though the headline is not "Cor, what a scorcher!" but "Afa!" [heatwave].
- There are power cuts throughout the morning as everybody hits their aircon buttons.
- There is absolute silence in the afternoons.
- You hear cicadas at noon.
- The older women carry fans.
- Everybody is buying anguria [watermelon] and....
- .... the greengrocer provides a parasol for his angurie.
- You walk into your hairdresser's and find him and his staff sprawled out on the various sofas, fast asleep!

This might be a great time to travel to cooler spots, Pat.
In my neck of the woods, the hottest day is around 75F.
I know, unfair.
So that's where our Sun has gone:)
Afa. When summer hits the roof and all one longs for is a cold drink and the next siesta.
I don't think I would be moving about too much in that heat.
think...granita!
I hear you! Baby, it's hot outside!
Hi, Rosaria. I can't afford to do thst but I wouldn't leave Simi in the heat, anyway - although I trust the kennels here. Actually, it's cooler tonight. Yes, it's our fault over here, Angus! Hello, Merisi and welcome. You have summed it up perfectly. You're right, Cherie - you can't. Good idea, Patricia. It's cooler tonight, Saretta. How is it in Puglia?
The Italians still do heat with style...I like the umbrella over the watermelons. I bought a beautiful red parasol in Thailand. I used it there all the time, at home though I havent had the guts...lol
Hi, GCC. Oh, you must use it there! You only live once....
Too much!
Younger Son's girlfriend's Italian parents have just visited and they said it 38 degrees in their part of Italy. Strangely enough they kept their coats for most of their stay here ...
I do not mind the heat we have been having but living by the lago we often seem to have a breeze.
