BANGERS EN MASSE

Last night I had some peppers and [yes, more!] tomatoes to use up so I made one of my favourite concoctions: a dish of sausages, peppers, tomatoes, sage, oregano and a fair splash of red wine. Traditional Italian sausages are too strong for this, as you need the flavour of the peppers to come through. I have found it works well with the chicken sausages available here. Summer comfort food!

Weel, don't I feel guilty, having just bought M & S's sausages! Still, I remember, when living in Spain, just longing for the occasional 'ready meal'..now I think I am making up for it.

jj, no, don't fel guilty! I don't mis ready-meals here because I never had them in the UK: I prefer to make large quantities of my fav recipes and freeze them in small containers, in case I'm ill and don't feel like cooking. Sally, I think you deserve a treat! Sorry, Crushed... Steve, I think I had one of my more inspired moments re the title!

I had what passes for Italian food here in Canada yesterday, and now....

Sigh.

Your blog always makes me hungry!

There's nothing like a good sausage dish with peppers and tomatoes. Well it looks good to me so I shall see if I can recreate it with turkey sausages.
I agree the title is very witty.

I make a dish similar to this but I have never used red wine or tomatoes!

Looks yummy as usual! :) Did you use a wok to make it? If you did any particular reason why? I have always wanted to cook with a wok. I just love the gadgets! lol

Hi, M. Yes, a wok. No particular reason other than that I like using my wok [ a non-stick one]. I brought it with me as they are difficult to find here. Ital friends are fascinated by it!
