If they are not still replete after all those canapés, the world's most famous newly-weds have another culinary treat in store, for Kate and Wills are to receive a taste of the Mediterranean in the form of Modican chocolate.
One of the guests at the Royal Wedding bash laid on by the British Ambassador to Italy and the Association of British Ex-Pats in Italy last Friday was Jacopo Scivoletto of the Consorzio per la tutela del Cioccolato modicano [Association for the Protection of Modican Chocolate] and, as well as presenting each of the hundred or so guests with a commemorative bar of the famous product, Mr Scivoletto asked the Ambassador to deliver a ceramic container by the Caltagirone potter Anna Boria to the happy couple. The container is, of course, filled with bars of Modican chocolate.
The inscription on the gift reads:
Augurale dono dalla Sicilia mediterranea
Il Cioccolato di Modica, plurisecolare tradizione “dolce” della Sicilia sud – orientale, possa tradurre simbolicamente la semplicità di un sincero e corale augurio per la fioritura del vostro felice progetto di vita.

A gift with best wishes from the Mediterranean.
May this Modican chocolate, a centuries-old "sweet" tradition of South East Sicily, symbolise simple and sincere good wishes from all of us for good fortune in your life together.

What a nice gift! I didn't realize there was an association for British ex-Pats. Are there many in Sicily?
I have seen someone looking to buy a home in Sicily on HGTV. Perhaps you get HGTV over there, but I was kind of surprised at how expensive the homes were. These people might have been British. It was a while ago and I'm trying to remember now.
How wonderful of Jacopo Scivetto ..it will last William and Kate awhile I am sure,..
Kate had better tuck in .. she needs to.. she looked so thin at the wedding ...
Hope they enjoy their Modican chocolate.
Hi, Betty. There are a fair number and the term "Ragusashire" has been coined. But the numbers are nothing like as high as for Spain. Therer's no "British community" here. We don't, to my knowòledge, get HGTV. Yes, prices are creeping up everywhere. Hi, Anne. Good job the chocolate will arrive after she had to get into that dress!
That'll put the pounds back on her.
Excellent! I heard that one of the wedding guests sent a present of 4 jet skis to Buckingham Palace!
I bet that's one present that won't be put away in a cupboard and forgotten about!
How long before the royal couple visit Italy? And won't Kate just love the shops! x
Hi, James. Yes, indeed. Hi, WW. I can never understand why, on these occasions, people don't send gifts to those who actually need them, but that's the Republican in me! Hi, Liz - or sold on by some royal "fence" flunkey! Oh, she would, Ellee!
