"SE VIENE, ARRIVA"

A superb example of Modican pazienza as I arrived at the bus stop for Modica Bassa this morning: When I asked an elderly gentleman if the bus was due, he made the hands in the air gesture and replied,

"Se viene, arriva"  -"If it's coming, it will arrive".

A stoic philosophy that has served them well for centuries.

Ummm...good luck! If we were in a hurry for the bus to come, someone would say "light up a smoke" and as soon as they did, the bus came! It worked everytime!

And in that, of course, he wasn't too far wrong.

By the way, did it eventually come and what were you doing in MB?

This sounds familiar to me, I think in my land we are quite Sicilian too :)

Quite right, lakeviewer. Haha! Good idea, Lucia! Hi, LindyLouMac. Yes, so Sicilian! Hi, Cherie. Glad it gave you a laugh. Hi, James. Yes, eventually! There's a pet shop there whicjh is easier to get to than the one you knew. That must be why I like you, then, Josep!
