SORRY, NASA, IT WASN'T US!

www.nasa.gov

I love NASA's  new "Black Marble" images of the earth at night, especially those of Italy. Milan is the brightest city shown in the images but I'm sorry to say that Modica was not responsible for the lights showing in this little corner of Sicily!

Yesterday my hairdresser told me that the shopkeepers on via Sacro Cuore had each chipped in €30 so that the street could have some Christmas lights. He nearly fell over laughing at my British naivety when I said I had thought the city council had put them up.

Thanks for the NASA link. Living in an urban environment, we seldom get the sense of darkness and light that exists.

My first time here. It made me smile to read that your hairdresser laughed out loud when you mentioned the city government. That sounds like Italy. It also sounds like France where people make fun about the government. Here in the States they don’t make fun – they are serious. They seriously despise the government if it is not from their own political party – no fun here.

Glad you liked the link, Patricia. Hi, Vagabonde and welcome. We make fun of the government all the time in the UK, too. That's interesting to know about the US.

When I was a bit kind of "over exuberant" the other week with a head full of ideas about running off to Monte Carlo with my millions I actually looked into how close Monaco was to Milano (Monte Carlo being just 12 miles from the Italian border and all) and unfortunately it's a full THREE HOURS distant ~~ that's further than Liverpool from London... or very far anyway. And the horror of having to do the journey in a chauffer-driven hen-night limmo. When I do live in Monaco, no way in hell am I driving my own car!

Hi, Gleds. Yes, it's a long way!

Maybe Christmas lights will be on Berlusconi's next manifesto?

Nothing would surprise me, WW!

Hello, Hawkins Family. I should have realised it was you! My thanks go to NASA, who allow their pictures to be used.
