SICILY QUIZ - 8

Last night's photo, as clever nunyaa guessed, is of a tradtional water-cooler.

Phew! It's hard thinking up a quiz in 43 C and answers beginning with the letter "I" are the most difficult!

Nevertheless, without further ado, I present tonight's quiz:

I was not in Sicily at Christmas but I ate torrone quite a bit when I was there.

I did not know Selinunte was derived from sedano but there's quite a lot I don't know about Sicily it seems. Been to Lipari however.

I seem to be getting worse at these and I can't even blame the heat it's raining here!

Hi, jmb. I'm scared to eat torrone these days - a bit harsh on the teeth! I have never been to Lipari.
Oh, cherrypie, send us some rain! Ooops! - Just looked out and we have some!

Phew, i'm glad I didn't offer my opinion openly as I was completely wrong in what I thought it was!
I didn't know that about Selinunte either. It was my favourite place in Sicily - well, one of them but much preferred it to Agrigento - more pristine and quiet - and you can walk from temple to beach. Ah, the problem with me 'visiting' your site is that I'm always tempted to reminisce.. I won't even start about the time I was in Caltanissetta (don't bother going if you haven't.. would be my brief advice!)

Well three right. I broke a tooth on torrone so it's a no-no!

Hi, cb. Do fel free to reminisce here! I've never stayed in Caltanissetta, only been through it on the way to other places. Would love to know your story about it. Oh, jams, I do sympathise!

WEll, I've been to 3 of those places, and figured out the answers to two more. Pretty good, I think, without googling. :D

I'm impressed, Leslie!

I spent a day there when I got on the wrong bus and thought I was going to Caltagirone (which I'm sure you've been to and is absolutely lovely - I went a few times). Caltanissetta is however, quite different.. apart from the Averna being produced there.. it doesn't have as much charm. And if you've been dependent on public transport in Sicily as I was (I don't know if you drive.. ) you'll know that bus times aren't necessarily kind to people who end up on the wrong part of the island during the post-lunch lull :)

Hi, cb. Yes, I've been to Caltagirone many times and love it there. I can imagine how you felt at Caltanissettta as I do not drive! Thanks again for the tale.
