"He who sings prays twice", said St Augustine. The Archbishop of Messina, Calogero La Piana, however, does not seem to agree, for he has suspended Father Domenico Manuli from his duties as a priest for one month after the Padre sang on television during the second series of Italia's Got Talent. Father Manuli admits having disobeyed the Archbishop to appear on the programme.
I couldn't find a video of Father Manuli singing on the show but I did find this one of him performing in concert at Saponara. The good Padre says he simply wants to bring the love of God to people via his voice - a worthy ambition, if you ask me. The people of his parish of Mandanici are organising a petition on his behalf.

Perhaps the archbishop is a bit jealous. When I was a a churchgoer, I listened to far too many priest who could barely carry a note. Father Manuli is wonderful!
Huh, that's strange. I often see priests and nuns on tv. Why not this one?
My goodness...so what's the problem? Did he make it through to the next round?
Maybe he is, Carmen. No idea, Saretta. Hi, Betty. No, he didn't.
Hoe very silly and sad. A beautiful voice is a gift from God! I hope the petition foes not get this priest in even more trouble ;(
The archbishop has it wrong; the good padre has it right. His rendition of Ave Maria brought joy to my heart.
I suppose it depends on one's voice...
How ridiculous, if he is talented it does not seem a very Christian move to ban him!!
Hi, Pat. I agree. I just hope the petition softens the Archbishop's heart! And to mine, Nick. A gift, as you say. This is true, WW. My thoughts exactly, LindyLouMac.
Hi Pat and Simi,
I don't believe in a men like the Archbishop!
Thank you for sharing Father Manuli voice!
