'TIS THE SEASON [6]....

.... to love those we are with and to think of those who have reason to be sad at Christmas.

Of all the news stroies I have written for Italy Magazine in the past year, there is one that I cannot get out of my mind.  Anyone who has been a carer has had desperate moments and this is a tragic example of what can happen if one of those moments comes when the person feels that they have no support and nowhere to turn.

If there is a loving and forgiving God, may he take pity on this woman at this time and may he bless her poor little ones, wherever they are.

This Christmas night my heart is with all who need care and those who help them.

We all can (and probably should) count our blessings. There was a man on the news last night who had an artificial corneal implant. He hadn't seen anything for decades, after the front of his eye "got sliced off" (his words).

That's why I don't really like that phrase "rock bottom". It might sound negative to say it, but it's true. Any situation you can imagine can always get worse! Or to look at it another way, we can all count our blessings, no matter how dire things are.

That's right, isn't it?

Anyway: you have Simi so you have lots of blessings! XX

Thank you. There are so many people in pain - both in obvious ways but also, and more often, in ways we cannot see. May we all be reminded to be kind to others whenever possible in the hope that a passing kindness might bring a moment of peace or comfort or best of all, hope.

Hoping your Christmas is full of joy and hope.

That is absolutely right, Gleds. Yes, Simi is a great blessing. xx Hi, Laura. I agree with your word totally and you are so right about hidden suffering. Hope you are enjoying a happy Xmas.

What a horrendous tragedy! Depression takes so many forms, too many of which lead to tragedy.

I pray that she has the faith to accept God's grace and forgiveness.

This time of year can be especially sad for many people. San Francisco now holds the title of having the most homeless in our nation. The numbers are not from the indigent poor, either, but from the ranks of middle income families now, whose breadwinners have lost their jobs in the recession, unable to pay their mortgages, who have lost their incomes and savings - a very sad state of affairs, indeed, driving many to despair.

Hi, Carmen. How sad to read that. It seems that everyone is suffering, everywhere.
