The sweetest blood oranges in Sicily are said to be produced in and around the town of Francofonte, [Siracusa Province]. I can confirm that this is so, having purchased this crateful on the Catania road this morning. [5 euros].

I can second that...best oranges I have ever tasted. !
But what do you do with a crateful?
The picture and thought have made my mouth water so much...
Hi, Anne. Well, I eat loads of them, I'll juice some and freeze it and use some in recipes. Hi, Cherie. They are incredibly thirst-quenching!
Like your previous fashion purchases, what a steal of a deal. Sicilian oranges are definitely thee best! I have a particular weakness for them especially when they're individually wrapped in colorful tissue paper. Removing them from the tissue makes me feel like it's xmas all over again!
I've had some cathing up here with all the wonderful things you have been up to. In addition to juicing and freezing, they make great orange marmalade or mixed with some tarter citrus for a treat as well. Send on up our way...
Just the most beautiful and delicious oranges there are and so hard to find here. Pea green am I.
They almost give them away don't they. Are they suitable for making marmalade?
Wow those are going to make your skin shine like a 20 year-old. My wife however insists the best oranges in the world come from Valencia and its more than my life's worth to disagree with a Spanish woman on the subject of food.
Hi, Rowena. That's interesting as I've never seen them wrapped in tissue here. Perhaps they do it when they send them further away. But I can remember when they arrived in the UK wrapped like that, many years ago. Hi, BB. Funny, I was thinking of marmalade today. I might just do that. Hi, Sally. Yes, it's hard to describe how sweet and cooling they are.
What a colourful sight. They look so delicious and I'm sure they will be very refreshing. Sicily is so perfect for the citrus fruits.
It is indeed, jmb.
Hi, Wolfie. I'm sure the Valencia oranges are wonderful, too. don't risk a divorce!
I'd love to have one right now!
Sending one through cyberspace, Betty.
