A lovely, leisurely, lazy lunch at the Caffè Consorzio today: antipasti, veal fillet with patate al forno and a glass of ice cream decorated with the juiciest plums and bay leaves picked fresh from the tree. Cincin and buona domenica a tutti.
Whilst you were enjoying your lunch in the warm sunshine, I was getting soaked in Cottingham, leafleting for the David Davis campaign. There is no justice in the world!!
As always your food looks delicious. So funny I thought of you today while dining out for a late breakfast/lunch. My brother and I having time while our car was being fixed stopped off at what looked like a cute cafe for something to eat.
What made me think of you, was all your beautiful dishes you photgraph for us. Even though I am thousands of miles away I can almost smell the aroma and taste the freshness and care of each dish.
In this cafe... Opting for breakfast choices of eggs, pancakes, potatoes and sausages... I was served what might have been last weeks breakfast. Rubbery and lifeless, greasy and frightening. I should have photographed the dish if only to see the outrageous contrast between yours and mine. Sick to my stomach and unable to eat a bite we left... and I was longing for even a picture of a proper meal!
Thanks Welscakes for always making me feel hungry and reminding me what real food looks like. From the land of processed and prepackaged everything!
Hi, Welshcakes - a bit off-topic, but a suggestion: why not go onto Widgetbox and make your own blog widget (like mine, but better), that others can choose to add to their sidebars? There are various options including one that features the first image in each post, which for a visual blog like yours would be attractive. And you can promulgate it via social networking sites such as Facebook, it's all there in Widgetbox's instructions.

I'm a sort-of retired language teacher from Cardiff, Wales, UK, now trying to make a new life in Sicily. I'm not growing vines, making olive oil or restoring a palace stone by stone!
