I found this caciotta cheese flavoured with red pepper in the supermarket today. I do love foods such as this, where the after-taste gives you a surprise as the flavour kicks in! Next to it are what I call "real" red peppers - large, bursting with colour, beautifully and irregularly shaped and just shouting at you to buy and try them! I needed thyme for a recipe tonight and I could only find the dried variety. I admit I do get frustrated that, in a land where so much cookery depends on herbs, you sometimes just can't find them. However, when I asked for the thyme, I was immediately cheered when the young assistant in the greengrocer's sniffed at each bunch in the box [ 30 or so] to find the one which, to him , had the freshest aroma. I made my way home happily, reader.

I would like that cheese, to mild for hubby!!
It is great when you are shopping and they go out of their way to please you :-)
Okay so the Post Office may not be very efficient, and the water truck doesn't always arrive on time but surely they are a small (ish) price to pay for such incredible food experiences! Yes at the moment I have just finished a packet soup and am incredibly jealous :-)
I have never seen thyme like that, think I am missing a lot. Is the cheese 'hot' to eat? Those red peppers are what we call capsicum, awesome roasted with lil olive oil and garlic :-)
This photo looks as if it should be in an Italian cookbook. The cheese looks wonderful and the peppers. I'll be right over later.
You do have one colorful photos there, Welsh! I've become so picky about my fruits and veggies that it's off to the farmers market this week for me! The grocery stores cellophane wrap most of their produce so you can't feel or smell a thing...
Thyme is my absolute favourite herb - one of these days I will make a small a thymery with lots of different varieties. For now, I am just grateful to have a clump where the dogs can't reach to pee.
Now that really is good service :-)

Is your cuisine like this, Welshcakes?
As jmb says, you've arranged everything so nicely the photo should be in a recipe book. Looks and sounds wonderful. yummy!
Lovely cheese with peppers - wow!!
Hi, Anne. Yes, it makes my day when they do that! OK, mg, I agree there are compensations! Ciao, nunyaa. The cheese is hot but sort of a minute after you taste it - very pleasant and not a "knock your head off" spiciness. Thanks you, jmb. I'll expect you later, then. Ciao, pink. I agree - I hate it when they are wrapped like that. Ciao, Mopsa. I love thyme , especially lemon thyme, which I do not find often here. Glad you have the pee-free clump! Hi, cherrypie. Yes, that kind of service makes my day. James, I dare you to come and find out! Of course, you will have to get through the airport-security-style "man detector" in the hall but after that you can have the Betty Friedan suite, freshly wall-papered just for you with vintage covers of "Spare Rib" magazine. What more could a man want? Thanks, Leslie. Glad you like the photo. One day you will be able to come over and try some, Mutley.
You may find that Mutley really will come over one day, and a few more of us too Welshcakes.
I love fresh herbs and also grow thyme in the summer, but it never lasts throughout the winter.
Another delicious dish.
And you'll all be very welcome, Ellee.
So Mutley, James and myself, what an eclectic trio, could James refuse such a challenge:

Cheese and red peppers. That sounds like a great combination. I wish more people here took a greater interest in the range of cheeses available in teh UK. Neal's yard dairy in COvent Garden is a favourite shop for me.
I love that the shop assistant searched for teh best thyme for you. We don't get that in Tescos!
Hi, Ellee. What a time we would have!!
Ciao, jams. I couldn't quite believe my eyes when the shop assistant did that but it was so good to see!
