The new shoe collections are in the shops and I want some! There is still a lot of bright red about in accessories but the definitive look for spring seems to be shoes in gold and silver - predominantly silver. The toes are still rounded and the shoes are flat or kitten-heeled. [I hate these heels as they get stuck in pavement cracks.] The matching, sequinned bags are absolutely to die for, ladies and the ones I've seen have not been all that expensive. They are, however, small and this is a favourite party trick of mine - I buy a small bag to be fashionable, then have a fight with it and rearrange things to get them back in every time I open it! [Will I ever learn?!] I'd like to take photos of some of the shop window displays for you but I don't know how to do it without getting my own daft reflection in the images!

Welshcakes, you're so chic I could cut myself on you.
There is a lot of red about here. And black and white. I'm only noticing these things as I've been outfit hunting; normally I wouldn't have a clue what was 'in' or 'out'!
I would love some really sexy red high heels but my feet are horrible - broad and ugly. And I'd probably fall off them anyway!
I prefer Walking boots and ruc-sacs as i am sure you know...:-)
but dream about dressing girlie one day.....
The Italians certainly push the envelope with the shoes. (Does that sound right? Anyway you know what I mean.)
I was there when the shoe shops were full of extremely pointed toes, 2002, and I watched very carefully to see how many woman were actually wearing them. About 10%, I'd say. Never did take here in Vancouver, I watched carefully for a year or more, some appeared then disappeared.
I'm afraid I think of gold and silver for evening only.
Regards
jmb
Oh, James, don't cut yourself again - not today! Hi, Liz. Did you find "the" outfit? Coming over to your blog to find out! I'm careful where I wear those heels these days or I would fall over, too. Sally, you have style! And you won't end up with deformed feet like the rest of us! Jmb, I knoiw what you mean. Yes, I primarily think of gold and silver for evening but this collection is different!
I would love a red pair too, it sounds very decadent.
Now Welshcakes, slightly off-topic, but I wondered what the Sicilians would have thought of this, in fact they did this themselves during their recent chocolate festival. Incidentially, I have a magazine article from the STelegraph to send you about it;

Oh, I wish you would take pictures... shoes are my weakness...
Turn the flash off manually and you shouldn't get a reflection.
Speaking of red shoes, I just bought a gorgeous pair of red heels... maybe I'll take pictures when they arrive.
I love Italian-made shoes! Oh! If only I had the money...I could contentedly wander the streets of Milan with a limitless supply of dollars (or whatever) and come away with a truckload of shoes, handbags and fashion! Dream on Lee! ;)
I know what it's like to be married to a woman who loves shoes. Need more closet space.
Hi, Ellee. I hadn't heard or read anything about the Sicilians doing that at the chocfest: where did you see it? I have read Bel's article and agree with her take on it. I'll ask around as to what the Sicilians think about the NY statue and report back! Buona sera, Ruthie. Thanks for the tip. I'll try and take some photos. Meanwhile, do post a pic of your red shoes! Lee, when we both win the lottery [and it would help if I actually bought a ticket!] we'll buy up Milano together!
Hi, Steve. That's the trouble with shoes: they take up so much space! We have to have them, you see, because they date much more quickly than other wardrobe items!
The upside of limited mobility is my shoes last ages - so it's worth getting the best. However, for sheer comfort, if not style, my fav choice of late has to be my Birkenstocks. I've just ordered another pair. I do wear heels - and then wonder why I feel unsteady.
That sounds great to me, Welsh! Then we could do a run up to Lake Como and buy some silk! I would go mad on an Italian shopping spree! Let me at the shops! ;)
Sadly, I don't have feet, I have tugboats. Nothing ever looks good on them. But I bet you have tiny little feet, Welshcakes!
Hi, Shirl. I like Birkenstocks too. OK, Lee, you're on. Now where's that lottery ticket? Bonnie, you make me laugh - tugboats, indeed! My feet are not at all tiny - size 5 British, 38 Ital but I often seem to need the next size down here - must be the way the shoes are made.
