SUMMER CUPS

Believe it or not, there are times, in Sicily, when you wonder if it will ever stop raining and thus it has been for the past three days. Bad drainage in the streets, the cold of houses built for summer and drivers who soak pedestrians from head to toe add to the misery. In these circumstances, a reminder of summer is welcome so I was pleased to receive these pretty ice cream cups as a "gift" with my Bottega Verde points; doubly pleased, in fact, as the mean old Conad supermarket chain has forsaken "gifts" for discount vouchers which are such a fuss and bother to apply for that I have given up. [Yes, I am aware that I am not really being "given" anything but it is nice sometimes to receive a loyalty award that you would not buy.]

Roll on, the ice cream season, so that I can use these!

Hi Pat , Same here! I know you are in Sicily though. We have water in the roads, pot holes full of water and drivers who soak us walkers. :-( My house is cold too in this weather. Luckily I can put the heating on. But if the weather was to be so hot , we can stay indoors in the cool . Roll on your ice cream season!! Cute little pots. Take care Anne

We copping rain here at present. A major Category 5 cyclone has been playing off the central coast of Queensland, and is just now in the process of crossing the coast...when it will then head south, having turned into a rain depression. Heavy rains are being experienced already between there, here and to the Queensland-New South Wales border.

Flooding is expected in many areas. The eye of the storm is now overland, and the cyclone will start losing strength...but the wild and wet weather will remain over the next couple of days.

Hello Pat,
It's raining like mad here too, I hate the damp it makes the old bones ache!
The little pots are quite cute so as Anne said 'roll on your ice cream season.
How's little Bertie doing?
I bet she'd enjoy some ice cream out of one of the pots.
Roll on Spring,
love Di xx

I think I might be a bit too cold to think about ice cream, even in a reasonably well insulated house!
I never know why people in med countries don't have warmer houses, after all their winters can be very cold!

Hi, Jenny. Yes, it's very strange!

Sainsburys gives us points that add up to money that if you're careful can be exchanged for things twice the value - but they never seem to be things I want (tickets to Madame Tussauds for instance) so I save up my points. And save them and save them. Husband points out to me that allowing for inflation I'm actually losing money by not using them - or something like that - but I love to think I have this little stock of free money!

I think I would like those ice creams cups though!
