Does anyone else remember when what we used to call "silver paper" was difficult to remove from a Kit Kat bar? It used to stick to the chocolate and you'd get a metallic taste in your mouth.
Well, I'm beginning to think that Italian manufacturers of kitchen foil have used the old-style silver paper as their inspiration, as their product has become noticeably thinner and sometimes sticks to the food - "austerity foil", perhaps?
Cling film [plastic wrap] went the way of all flesh years ago but I'd be interested to know if anyone else has noticed a deterioration in the quality of kitchen foil, either in Italy or elsewhere.
Some of you may remember that I've had an issue with kitchen foil before and no doubt the hapless Mr Letta, charged with the task of forming a new government for Italy yesterday, has other matters on his mind, just as Mr Monti did before him. On the other hand, I'm sure that Mr Letta, like his compatriots, will wish to continue to eat well, crisis or no crisis, so what could be more important than turning his attention to the problem of l'alluminio della sobrietà?

i haven't noticed that WL
I'm wondering if your supplier has sneakily changed the quality of the foil supplied. Maybe other foils would be better. "Value" foil always breaks so I don't buy it any more.
Hello Lovely,
I don't use foil, so I"m not a good one to ask.
Hope you are well~~~

I find you have to be quite careful what brand you buy, with foil and cling film, if you want them to actually work!
Hi, WW. Maybe it's just over here, then. Hi,Jenny. No, it seems to be happening with several brands, all decent ones. Hi, Constance. Thanks for commenting anyway! Simi sends wags and woofs. xx Hi, Rachel. Yes, but here it is happening with several brands.
Can't say I've noticed any issues!
Did you know KitKat was the most popular snack in prisons when it was still wrapped in proper foil ~ gave the inmates something to smoke heroin off!
I hope you're OK. I'm very slowly learning Italian. VERY slowly indeed... I just hope their subjunctive isn't as inconvenient as the Spanish one (not that I don't know when to use it. I'm a big swat like that...)
PS I saw a really cute doggie that looked like a fat version of Simi sitting on someone's lap on the but t'other day... golden fur... chocolate drops for eyes and everything...
Intereseting to know, Liz.
Hi, Gleds. Italian subjunctive - which, funnily enough, I am going to post on next week - is quite difficult, yes, but it is used less than the Spanish one. You'll get the hang of it, I'm sure! Simi says do say "Hello" for her next time you see that dog! Love and woofs. xx
I hadn't noticed, but, no doubt, from now on I will1 ;) I use it infrequently...mostly just for covered the tray under my grill; and lining the trays under the hotplates/elements/burners.
I've not had a KitKat in years...now I'll have to buy some!! lol
As for cling-wrap...I have ongoing battles with it every time I use it!
