AND THE BEST BEACH IN ITALY IS....

Image:  http://www.sanvitoweb.com/
... San Vito Lo Capo in Trapani, Sicily, I am proud to announce.  This beautiful beach tops the Italian beaches list in  Trip Advisor's 2011 Travelers' Choice Awards and also came eighth in the site's list of the top 25 beaches in Europe.

Villasimius Beach in Sardinia came second in the Italian list and, in some good news at last for the Island of Lampedusa, its beaches came third.

According to the site, the best beach in the world is Providenciales and I just have to tell you that the best UK beach is St Ives in Cornwall.

It sure looks beautiful. We never got there. There are a lot of places I regret never getting to see.

I want to go here! I have never been to Italy, but its been my life dream to go for a week just to be the ultimate tourist. Whenever I do, I will be sure to come here!

Good news! Perhaps it will draw people's attention to the current problem the island is facing.

Hi, Betty. I haven't been there either! Hi, Rowena. Well, Sicily could do with this morale - boosting award at the moment. E Bellissima, WW. Hi, Addicted Baker. I hope you get to live that dream one day soon! Hi, Rosaria. Let's hope so. Hi, LindyLouMac. Yes, congratulations to them all.

Lovely but not even close to the gorgeousness of the Gower, west Wales and Irish beaches! But they're more deserted and difficult to reach so out of the way for most tourists, thankfully!

To each his own, Liz.

Nice for the beach going crowd. While don't like lying in the sun, it looks lovely for sipping an umbrella cocktail in a shady spot.

Hi, Carmen. I'm not one for lying in the sun either but I'm all for the cocktail!

I'm sure St. Ives is lovely, but I know some places much closer to where I live, where the beaches are several miles long, perfectly clean, and completely empty.

I must admit that most of the time it's either pouring with rain there, or blowing a gale, or freezing cold, or all three, or even worse; but when it is not - on the occasional beautiful blue-sky warm day - you simply wouldn't wish to be anywhere else.

Locating these incomparable treasures is left as an exercise for the reader.

Hello, WY. Yes, there are some lovely, and little known, beaches in the UK. As you say, all we lack is the weather!
