WHAT IN SICILY? - 11



It was a bit difficult to know how best to photograph this one, so here are two views of it for you.

Don't know the name of it, but it looks like a holder for something. You slip it over an arm, and put things in it...most probably miles away ha ha

This is a wild guess. Maybe it's for taking bread out of the oven? The arms go in the two pockets? Although the fabric doesn't look heavy enough to offer much protection from the heat.

Gotta be panniers/saddlebags for a donkey/mule. Very stylish. I'd love a mule with or without the saddlebags.

The farm labourer or farmer travelling to inspect all his fields would sling this cloth over the mule's back and in the pockets he would put his food for the week.
