A SLICE OF LIFE ON SATURDAY

There is no better way to start Saturday or any day than with a glass of freshly squeezed Sicilian blood orange juice

and, it being the weekend, a slice of orange tart:

Meanwhile, down in Modica Bassa, the farmers' market is in full swing

and even the town's buildings seem to be enjoying the sunny morning:

Lunchtime and back at Bar Cicara a friend and I share a plate of antipasti:

And now it's siesta time!

Hi, Sally. I've always loved orange juice but Sicilian oranges are special. Hi, H.insciens. As best I can! Sending you some juice down the line right now. Hi, Elisa and thank you for commenting on my blog. Hope you have a great week too. Hi, jams. Sicilian blood oranges are something else again! Hi, Laura. You would love it here but please don't imagine that my life is one without any difficulties because it is not. Hi, Anne. We'll share a plate of those one day! Hi, WW. Yes, it's been lovely and I am reliably informed that, as a result, the Sicilian carrot harvest will be early. And it was, Cherie. You would love it here too, Ellee.

Sicilian blood orange juice looks so good! The photo of the town looks so similar to my husband's home town in Calabria. It's good exercise walking up those hills!
