ONE FOR THE ROAD..

... or the air, I should say. It is not easy to find a handbag with a long strap these days so I snapped up this one from the new Carpisa collection this morning. I'd seen it in their window in maroon, then saw in their catalogue that it is available in black as well. I am not an indecisive woman when it comes to clothing or accessory purchases, so today it took me about 30 seconds to buy it: "Have you got that in black and can I check the length of the strap?" "Yes" to both, right, sold. I do like a long-strapped handbag when I'm travelling [quick trip to Britain next week] as I can then wear the bag across my body with the clasp towards me when going through airports and coach stations [safer from pickpockets]. I hate trying to do this inelegantly with a bag with a short strap. [I conceal most of my money elsewhere, though!] There is nothing like the smell of a new, Italian leather bag.

Bello, bello. You'll be bringing a touch a Italian style to these autumnal shores. Travel safely dear Welsh and hope your visit goes well. I couldn't agree more that the strap and its length are vital!

Lovely handbag welchcakes; I bought a similiar, "Coach" one in America when on holiday recently. I was tempted and bought a purse to match.

What about Simi when you go to England? Is she coming with you?

Glad you like it and agree, Sally. Thanks, MM. A purse to match is a good idea.... Hi, eurodog. No, she will be in very good boarding kennels here. [I hate that bit but they are very kind with her.]

I don't really see you as the indecisive sort.

I have a preference for black- most of my shirts are black, as are most of my trousers, T-shirts, etc.

I'm not even going to ask where you conceal the rest of it, Welsh! ;)

Good idea about the bag, though...the long straps do make for easier handling when travelling.

Hurry back, safely! :)

A truly elegant, stylish handbag, Welshcakes, in perfect Italian leather. Of course you could not resist it. I have to say I have converted to the shorter handled over the shoulder handbags as I seemed to be always hitting people with the others when I swung around quickly, especially while holding a cup of tea in the hands.
But I agree, diagonally across the shoulder while travelling.
You must be getting quite excited now.
regards
jmb

Ciao, Crushed. I'm not, usually - except when it comes to men and then I ignore my common sense instincts! I'm sure you look very elegant in all your black outfits. Ciao, Lee, I won't tell that secret online! Here till midweek. Hi, jmb. Yes, I've done the hitting people with shoulder bags unintentionally too! But when you travel alone you have to think of thees things. Excitement merged with nosalgia, really and I hate leaving Simi. A Brit friend wrote and suggested lunch out during my stay and I wrote back, "Only in an Italian restaurant!" I guess that says it all.

Oh that's lovely. I like that style.

Are you going to tell us where you DO keep your money? I mean really what a tease for mutleythedog!

I have been looking for a handbag for my fall trip as all my good bags are in storage. The only one I have found that I like is a "Tod" at 1800euros, a bit more than I had in mind...

Wonderful! Smart traveller rather than scruffy one - I knew that's what you'd be. Never know who you might meet - he might be next to you on the plane!

welchcakes,I have spent some time today catching up on all your recent blogs. Lots of new recipes to try. What has happened to Steve I went there to see what he had been up too and was faced with some not very nice pictures. Has the same thing happened to you?

£££: good on you! never put most of it in any obvious place

is the bag Italian-made? they make the best bags and shoes...

remember only 15 years ago Prada were a bags company... now they're famous for gowns!

You're at it again, Welshcakes!

Yes, it is very stylish. And leather too, it would cost a fortune here in the UK.

Grazie, WW. I'll keep you all guessing for a bit longer, Lady M! I bet that's a beautiful bag... Now, Shirl, don't start me dreaming! Hi, MM. It's nice to have you back. Steve decided to give up blogging for a while - we don't know why - and then someone must have hijacked the url. I think that happens quite alot these days. Hi, Gleds. Yes, Ital made. Amazing, the rise of Prada. A girl has to keep trying your lordship. Hi, Ellee. 65 euros - not bad.

wow!
I love bags! It looks very chique. I would've picked the black one too although i'm guessing..the maroon one is nice too!

Thanks, Kizzie. Yes, the maroon one looked tempting too - but it wouldn't really have gone with any of my clothes.
