Views of the castle's garden and the exterior of its Norman church, which dates from 1173. I forgot to go back and take a photo of the church's magnificent, original portal, but you will find one here.

This is one trail that I'm enjoying without having to walk (grin)
These pics are stunning, it looks so lovely. I left a long comment yesterday saying how Lord Nelson is my hero and is going to be the subject of my next speech at Toastmasters. Every summer I spend a week at his birthplace in Norfolk. I feel he was truly heroic and inspirational for many reasons.
Glad you're enjoying it, Steve.
Hi again, Ellee. I appreciated your comment of yesterday and of course it's on. Are you going to publish the Toastmaster speech? As I said yesterday, what a coincidence that Nelson is to be your subject!
The Normans must have been amazing folk. They were stomping around southern Italy at the same time as their cousins were conquering England.
When they ran southern Italy, it was the richest state in Europe. No-one else has managed that since.
Hi, steve2. Yes, an amazing people indeed, the Normans. I think they are rather neglected by historians of today.
