Two years ago, I wrote that Italy had gone loyalty-card mad and now it is even more so. The latest company to join the trend is a coffee-maker, so now you get your little card stamped every time you have a coffee in the bar.
I must say, I was quite cheered to get a free tin of coffee this morning, especially as it came in one of those nifty new wine chiller bags. Now, in the unlikely event that I manage to down another 30 coffees before the end of the month, I get an espresso cup and saucer......

I never seem to keep up with loyalty-cards...so I gave up on taking them when offered. I guess they're still around down this way; I'm just not that loyal enough to know! ;)
Loyalty cards! Even the dogs have one from the shop where they go to get a trim. We've (they've) already received a little package of doggie treats.
Hi Pat
I'm coming on a family holiday to Sicily and planning on staying in the coast near Ragusa.
Do you have any advice on good towns to stay in that are not tacky but still have a bit of life to them as I have 2 boys 17 and 15 and don't want them to get bored.
They both sail and swim and the older guy is very interested in archaeology and cooking
I've been looking at apartments to rent in places like Marina di Ragusa, Sampieri, Pozzzalo, Scoglitti etc.
Parliamo tutti Italiano.
Thanks
-David
I think I'll have to give up on any new ones too, Lee! Hi, Rowena. Yes, I've got one for the dog, too! Hello, David. There's always something going on in the Marina in summer and you'd be near Modica for other activities. Your elder son might be interested in Bonajuto, the chocolate makers here - you can go in and see the process. Also suggest you get in touch with Katia amore of "Love Sicily" cookery school - she may have more suggestions. You could also get in touch with Cynthia Grech at http://www.barbutonatural.com/ or on facebook.
Hope you all have a great time!
I didn't know about this Pat. I never get any cards. I go to the same bar and the same shops so often but they don't give anything out. Cheapskates!
Cheapskates indeed, Francesca!
I'd be more likely to down 30 glasses of wine....just kidding, I do like coffee as well. Nice to get a treat for doing something you're going to do anyway!
I like loyalty cards when they give a nice reward like this, Pat. Many here offer deep discounts, which can be helpful if you use a product or service quite a bit.
Couldn't agree more, Carmen. Hi, Pat. Yes, sometimes I think discounts would be better but on the other hand the loyalty card "gifts" are usually things I wouldn't buy but am very happy to have.
