This wasn't going to be a Silly Week post but when I read about the antics of the bear puppet Sooty today, it kind of turned into one. Sooty and his pal the dog Sweep [later joined by female panda Soo] kept me entertained as a child and I still love them. But it seems that Sooty has gone off the rails lately for today, whilst recording an episode for a new TV series, he hit the British magician Paul Daniels rather too hard in the face with a pizza. Mr Daniels ended up in hospital with a black eye but is said to be being a good sport about the incident. Sooty, who has obviously been watching too much television, is reported to be in hiding. I blame the parents myself.
The pizza in question, I am informed, was a Margherita and, just in case Sooty needs some fresh supplies, here are the pizze a friend and I enjoyed in my nearest pizzeria on Monday evening:

We could have done with you in the Italian Parliament this afternoon, Sooty and if you need a safe house, you can always come and stay with Simi and me in Sicily!

No Sooty in my life but thank you for bringing back lovely Dean Martin to my mind. I was totally swayed in my youth whenever he appeared on the screen. Such a velvety voice!
