Stopping for refreshment on our walk the other day, Bertie thoroughly enjoyed her little taste of a seasonal Sicilian brekky!

SUNDAY BREAKFAST
All my recent posts have been about food and, at this time of year, why buck the trend? Here's how they make cupcakes at the LiolĂ :

MORNING GLORY
There are, in my opinion, two ways of seeting yourself up for the day: one is a full British breakfast [without egg, for me] and the other is a freshly squeezed Sicilian orange juice. On the right you see the first of the season:
As I've mentioned before, no self-respecting Sicilian barman will squeeze a non-Sicilian, out-of-season orange and, even though the orange season started a month ago, our local bar did not deem the fruit good enough for juice until this week. And long may things continue thus!

MORNING KISS
There's nothing like a Sicilian summer breakfast, especially when the gelato includes bacio flavour. I'm on the mirtillo juice, folks, because it is said to be good for the eyes!

SICILIAN SUMMER BREAKFAST
A mulberry granita topped with cream for my friend and a chocolate and pistacchio ice cream for me. We shared the brioche to dip into these naughty treats.
The calories, like those in chips, do not count when you are out.

BREAKFAST IN SICILY
I know I showed you pictures of various granite last summer but I have more readers now! Crushed and others have been asking about these water-ices so this morning, in the interest of blogging, I forced myself to have a Sicilian summer breakfast of lemon granita and brioche.

HUGH ED I FAGIOLINI
UPDATE: Here is a link to an English version of the Hugh Grant story.
The Prince Harry story has received little coverage here today, though of course people know about it. If you want my opinion he shouldn't go simply because his presence will put other soldiers at greater risk. And it's no good saying he "is like any other soldier". He is not: for a start, he has bodyguards and secondly he has not exactly had to join the army in order to earn a living, has he?
What has received massive coverage here is the Hugh Grant story: Now, I might be a mundane sort of person but three things worry me about this tale:
[1] Why would a man like HG have to go out to get some baked beans at 10am?
[2] Why were they in a plastic container? Baked beans in Britain come in tins [or have I been away too long?!][3] Where was the rest of his "great British breakfast"?
