DISCONCERTED

Every woman, whatever her age, needs a dishy man to dream about and I dream about Luca Zingaretti, star of the Montalbano TV series and presenter of the treno barocco video in the sidebar of this blog.

The Montalbano series is based on the novels by Andrea Camilleri about a Sicilian gourmet detective.  It is mainly filmed in Scicli and at the sea in Sampieri:

But I was disconcerted today to learn that in the new Montalbano series, which will feature stories of the detective's early career, the lovely Luca is to be replaced by Michele Riondino:

Now, Michele is not exactly the kind of guy a girl would want to chuck out of bed but he is not quite the mature woman's crumpet, either - or is he?

That video isn't much to go on, but I'd pick that Luca crumpet over Michele any day!

I must agree with you. I have read every Detective Montalbano story that has been translated into English. In my mind, I picture his home, his office, his co-workers, his girlfriend and the man himself. Though the man in my mind has hair, Luca will do nicely. Michele, while un bel raggazo, looks more like my son! Also I picture the setting in Catania...I have never been to Scicli, but I have visited Modica and appreciate the baroque buildings. I have tried to find the series on RAI that is transmitted over the computer but have not been successful. Thanks for sharing the YouTube videos..one leads to another. I love Luca's body language, the gestures, the shoulder shrugs, the facial expressions. Wonderful!!

You'll get a morsel of the detective's earlier years to set you up for more. Perhaps, he's stepping back and renegotiating his contract, and that leaves the writers in a quandary. They can't go ahead with the story; they can't cancel him out; they can only go back.

That's my guess. I hope you get back your cheesecake, Pat, soon.

I didn't care for the Montalbano series but I love 'The Octopus'. Lately it's been playing on our public TV station. Some parts were shot in Sicily. I thought Corrado Cattani looked really hot.

Hi, pink. Glad you agree. Hello, Patricia. Glad you like him too. I'm very interested to learn that you have been to Modica. Scicli is a lovely town too. You may well be right, Rosaria. I'm giggling at the term "cheesecake". I never saw that series, Anne, but Corrado Cattani looks dishy. Luca is more to my taste, though. Didn't know that, WW. My thoughts exactly, Lucia.
