It's not Thursday but I couldn't resist running this one early in the week. I include my friend Gino's vibrant painting of the same object to help you.
Answer tomorrow.
Sicilian life, good and bad, as seen by "Welshcakes Limoncello", a British woman who emigrated to the island in 2005. You'll find some recipes here, too.

What a tease, I can only see some sort of fruit!!
Its a nasty trick shoe!!
Looks like a prickly pear. Love the painting :)
It's a bud... or a fruit... or a seed-head... and it's lying in a weird green peanut shell.
There, how did I do?
Fichi d'India, yummy, yummy - and love the painting too.
Looks like a pawpaw
I'd love to know what it tastes like too. Have you heard about the wine which came out of the water tap in Rome:

Prickly pear and a half a pod!!!
Or is it Prickly pear and one of the sort of leaves, that has dried up. Sort of cacti. :-)
fichi d'India, prickly pears for the Brits. They are delicious, excellent for breakfast.
Well done, everyone! It was the container I was thinking of, rather than the prickly pear inside. The container is, of course, a prickly oear leaf and when they are found in this shape, they are quite often used as food containers.
Now, that's a thought, Mutley!
A pricky pear in a very large peanit shell?
Thanks, Ellee. will have a look at that now.
Hi WL - I was the only one to mention the leaves and the prickly pear :-( ....did I get missed!!!
Gino's painting. Ah, that tells me where you were. Say hello for me.
Anne, sorry. Clever girl! I will indeed, James.
