THE PYJAMA GAME

Before coming to Italy, I hadn't worn pyjamas since I was a child.  But it one day occurred to me that all my women friends here seem to be pyjama rather than nightie ladies and when I was in hospital I soon realised that there is no way of clambering into a high Italian bed elegantly in a nightie. [This matters when there are no bed curtains to give you a moment's privacy!]

So now I'm a pyjama convert, especially when I see ensembles like this one:

And I just discovered that one of my all-time favourite songs is from "The Pajama Game" - how about that?

  3. Since I don't seem to have romantic interludes anymore, I usually sleep in sweatpants and shirts ( it's usually about 55 - 60here at night ). Otherwise, it's p.j.s for me because they're more comfortable - or shorty p.j.s. I've always liked nice lingerie - wish I could get back to slimmer sizes!

  4. Yes, comfortable and a lot more versatile too. What do you mean you have no privacy?

  5. Boy! Mention of "The Pyjama Game" brought back memories of when I was a kid. I loved that music and movie when it came out and ended up driving my family, particularly my older brother crazy with my renditions of "Steam Heat"!!!!!

  6. You just reminded me of what I need. Fed up of sleeping in dirty old teeshirts etc

  7. PS I once bought andy-pandy pajamas, but the shop only had the shirt, so I just got that. I would really have liked the blue and white delft cotton trousers but forgot to go back (actually forgot what shop they came out of)

these were from Norwich, which apart from the best terriers, has a wealth of boutiques for the 5000-acres agricultural farmers from the sticks to spend their mammoth oil seed rape, beet and cauliflower harvests on!

aren't we meant to spell the word "pyjamas" bc we're British? i always go for the more American and phonetic pa- version

    anyway cheerio!

  9. Hi, Carmen. Don't we all?! Hi, lakeviewer. In the hospital here there are no bed curtins or screens so you are examined in full view of the other patients on the ward. Hi, Lee. I can just imagine you driving everyone crazy! Hi, Gleds. What a mine of informstion you are! I am imagining you in your Andy-Pandy jam-jams now - well, in the top of them! Hello, Italian Postcards. Nice to meet you and thanks.

  10. I love my Pj's...I favour the Doris Day sort..with button through tops and straight legged
    pants.
I have tartan ones that I wear in the in the Winter and a lovely Red check pair, with Rudolph, Snowmen and Santa on that I wear at Christmas, pretty floral designs for Spring, strappy cool T-shirt style for Summer and rustic colours for Autumn.

    Voila!
