ICE CREAM OF THE WEEK

There's been some tough competition but the best ice cream of the past 7 days was this pistacchio and melon one at Donnafugata on Saturday.

  1. Do I detect a second bowl of icecream on the other side of the table? Oooh, do tell.

  2. Mmmm ... oh, Welshcakes, it looks mouthwatering! Italians make the best ice cream.
I remember a trip to Rome aeons ago when we stayed near the central train terminal, and discovered nearby a treasurehouse of gelati called 'Il Palazzo del Fredo': heaven!
We went every evening, and the place was full of families, buzzing with conversation and enjoyment - and the icecream was, of course, delicious.

  5. Eagle-eyed as ever, James! Hi, Phidelm. They are brilliant at ice cream and it always comforts me to see the notices in the bars [where they make their own] laying down the law about what ingredients can be used. What a good name for an ice cream parlour! Hi, Anne. One day you will come over and have one here! You too, Cherie.

  9. Sounds like a fantastic combination. The pistachio reminds me of Persian ice cream which is my all time favorite - pistachio, saffron, rosewater and bits of frozen cream.

  12. Hi, Michelle. The Persian ice cream you describe sounds divine. Hi, Kinha. My favourite flavour is black cherry. Sometimes I think so, Rochambeau. Always a pleasure to visit your lovely blog.

Trubes, I forgot - the second one was for Rosa.
