SICILIAN WHISPERS

Just a quick post , yet again concerning the water situation , tonight:
1. I found out this evening that the next water request for our condominio has not only been made, but signed - in my name! Now, who do you suppose would do that and why, reader?
2. Three people have told me today that the Water Office phone is permanently out of service because their phone bill has not been paid. Can you believe that a public office would get itself into such a mess? The only person showing any surprise regarding this is me. [I should add that I have no evidence whatsoever that this is the case - just hearsay.]
Living here is never boring!

  1. Oh, a mystery! How exciting. Let's hope you get the water at the right time anyway.

After what you've said about delightful Sicily - yes I can understand it.

  5. The water saga there is endlessly entertaining, that's for sure. Let's hope no one is signing cheques in your name!

  6. I have such trouble getting my head round your water situation - it's positively Saharan! And you're in Europe....Us lucky ones should all learn not to take the stuff for granted.

  7. ........and so the saga rolls on poor Welshcakes - who on earth is masquerading as you? And why? It's a nightmare for you.

  8. Yes, who would feel that it was Ok to sign your name? Why didn't they just sign their own. We need Miss Marple to solve this one.

  9. Having your name signed without your consent reminds me of the time our neighbor added our names to a petition to the comune. It was for the implementation of hi-speed internet to those who live in this remote area. It seems that she was short a few "signatures" and when she casually let us know what she had done, I had to bite my tongue from saying, "Well, you could have also added Maddie. She likes to look at pictures on the web too. How would they know if she's just a dog?" ;-)

  13. It seems to me that Sicily and Ireland have a lot in common. Fortunately we never have a shortage water these days!

  15. Hi, James. I rather thought you might. Oh, jmb, I never thought of that! Hi, mopsa. It has really made me realise just how much water one person can use! Sally and MM, I don't think anyone is doing it with any evil intent: the Water Office needs a signature, I am the one who usually signs and that is all there is to it - semplice! Rowena, I don't know how you stopped yourself saying that! You have given me an idea - next time I go over there, I'll take Simi to mput her pawmark on the document! Ciao, Kyles. Yes, "curiouser and curiouser". Ciao, Gleds. Yes, it's drinkable but I only ever drink bottled water and did so even in the UK. I just prefer it. I am absolutely dreading the water bill, Crushed. Hi, Dragonstar. Lucky you! Hi, cherrypie. It is, indeed....

  17. S.W.W. have the highest charges in the country but at least do get water 99% of the year. Water or lack of it certainly plays a big part in your life.

  18. We lived with a spring for five years, before my husband started living full time in Idaho...it's horrid to run out of water...especially in August!

I hope you find out who the mystery signer was that used your name!

  19. Hi, Leslie. No, not yet. Will be over in a mo. Hi, kissa. Yes, we don't realise how important water is until we are without it for a while, it seems to me. Hi, pink. Yesd, especially bad in August! I just couldn't stand it for amy real length of time. I'm no country gal!
