ANOTHER NEW CHEESE

During the past week or so I have discovered cavalcatore, a hard, unsalty cheese with a unique flavour somewhere between that of pecorino and that of gran padano. Cavalcatore comes either peppered or not and, being a "spicy" sort of person, I bought the peppered version this morning. It marries well with these incredibly sweet pomodorini datterini, which I just can't stop eating!

  1. I don't know about the cheese Welshcakes but grape tomatoes as we call them here are so delicious. I buy them all the time, at great expense, those and the campari type which are so sweet.

  2. Well just slap me happy and call me jealous - that cheese sounds divine. Yes I have a "problem" when it comes to cheese - I think a decent bread, some cheeses and I could be set for life. I shall just have to go on a world tour and try them all because, although we have an exotic range of cheeses available locally, there are so many regional cheeses of the world...

  3. Hi, jmb. I didn't know you called them that over there. Nice to know you enjoy them too. Mg, you will just have to come and visit! I'd love to learn more about the cheeses you have there, btw.

  4. I'm a cheese lover, too! Especially loved the parmessan in Italy - I think I've mentioned that before. That peppered variety looks delish and would go wonderfully well with the tomatoes.

  5. I'm terrible with Cheeses. When I do buy them, Usually Brie, Port Salut, that sort of thing. I eat the whole thing in a matter of hours- I have a bit every time I'm near the fridge.

  6. Those tomatoes look so tasty, the thought of them makes my mouth water. I am sure I would like the cheese too, but I am supposed to be dieting at the moment...

  7. Hi, Leslie. Yes, the parmesan here tastes completely different to the "travelled" kind you get in the UK. It really is an experience to try it.
Ciao, Crushed. I can understand that!
Hi, cherrypie. You would love it. I do wish you could try the tomatoes!
