MELONI DI TRAPANI

The melons grown in Trapani are reputed to be the sweetest and juiciest in all Sicily and they are certainly the juiciest I have ever tasted. Here they are on sale this morning. [It's a pity about the graffito on the wall. ] I am told that the melons will keep all winter if hung from the balcony in old tights!

  2. Lovely photo WCLC. I don't remember these melons but I do love the Tuscan melons, which are really cantaloupe but sweeter. We get them here but I don't know if they are grown in Italy

  3. Hi, Sally. I could live on melons. Hi, jmb. I'm glad the photo is all right as I took it from across the road. I wasn't going to buy any of these melons as you have to buy a caseful from these roadside sellers and I couldn't possibly carry it. So I felt I had to take the photo surreptitiously.

  4. Do they have to be clean tights?!

I have a honeydew melon in the kitchen at the moment. It has been there for about two weeks and I am waiting for some sign that is ready but it still feels rock-hard!
