Luciano Pavarotti

Thank you, Luciano, for all the times your voice moved me to tears and for the pleasure you gave to millions.

I think this clip shows how much Pavarotti meant to all Italians.

Addio e grazie.

  1. A very sad day for many. My husbands cousin was his voice coach here in the USA, I'm sure she is distraught.

  2. Not a bad innings for someone who appreciates a Fray Bentos pie.

  3. I imagine all Italy is in mourning.
What a coincidence that pinkacorn knows someone who knew him.

  4. Hi, pink. Yes, very sad. I'm sure your relative is distraught, as you say. Well, there is that, Tickersoid. Thanks for visiting my blog. Ellee, it would seem so: I've heard strains of his music from all around today - even at siesta time, which is unusual.

  5. 'Tis a very sad time. A magnificent man in every way. He was one of my heroes. The world is a lesser place from the loss of the beauty of his voice. Thankfully, we still have access to it from his many recordings and filmed performances. Tears well every time I listen to Pavarotti...they flow for his loss.

He teased and charmed us mercilessly with his mischievous, flashing brown eyes.

  6. Hi, Lee. Yes, magnificent in every way. We are lucky to have the CDs etc. I, too, cry every time I listen to him. I feel for his family tonight.

  8. My very favourite tenor. We always listen to his CD of O Holy Night when we open Christmas presents.
My friend's husband, a dentist, did a root canal on him when he was here in Vancouver and every time he came to North America he sent them tickets for a performance and plane tickets to go. A very generous person indeed.
I did go to see him live when he performed here with the Three Tenors, quite a few years ago.
    regards

Always sad when anyone reaches an untimely death through either accident or illness. Here, the world feels the loss because he shared so much with us.

That's 2 people who know someone who had professional dealings with him who have commented on this blog! TAT, how wonderful to have seen him and at the Met, too! Hi, shirl. I guess we all thought we knew him, really. Ciao, Uber. I am Welsh but not a cake - at least, I don't think so! Auguri

  15. I, too, was sad to hear of his death.

Many nights when my son was a baby, I got him to sleep by playing the song "Notte."
